"You have shamed us," began the bishop as he shook my hand following two days of teaching in Embu, Kenya on the leadership style of Jesus. This very sincere man of God proceeded to say that he now realized that the model for leadership used by him and other Christian leaders in Kenya was the wrong model, or what I call the "Fallen World Model." This type of testimony is what keeps us coming back to Africa.

In February, 2005, John and Bobbi Sullivan flew back to Nairobi to begin a three week teaching trip. The first 10 days were spent at the ICM Seminary in Kitale where John taught "A Return to Servant Leadership" to a class of 23 Kenyan pastors and missionaries.

We then traveled to the Central Provinces and the city of Embu where a group of pastors, bishops, and lay leaders assembled for two days of leadership teaching sponsored by the Church Leadership Institute of ICM. John taught, "A New Model for Leadership?" the first day and team-taught John Maxwell's Million Leaders Mandate, Book 1, with Onesmus Weru, Director of CLI, on the second.

We are encouraged by each trip back to Africa to hear the stories of how these Christian leaders are implementing the servant-first model in their homes and churches.

Below are a few pictures from this trip. Click on the thumbnail image to enlarge.
